no bpa, no phthalates, no pvc.
just the stuff they make popcorn out of.
Fantastic Anti-Plastic Dishes are made from corn sugar, a sustainable resource. That means no toxic chemicals like Bisphenol-A, phthalates, or PVC. And unlike conventional plastic, there’s no petroleum–a non-renewable resource we have a nasty habit of fighting wars over.
From the beginning, our goal was to create what’s called a “cradle to cradle” design: Dishes that are completely sustainable—born from nature and ultimately returning to nature. First, sugar is extracted from corn grown in Iowa, then exposed to microbes in a big vat where fermentation takes place. This creates a base polymer called PHA.
Our base polymer is then made into Mirel™ bioplastic pellets, which in turn are used to make our dishes. (All of which sort of begs the question: Where does the plate start and the food stop?)
